Creating a single metric chart
Who is this article for?
Users who want to learn how to create a single metric chart
Reporting authorities, roles, and record access controls restrict data visibility.
The Single Metric chart visualization provides a concise summary of measurable data. The value of this data can be derived from a specific date range or calculated numerically. The report can display a single field value or a summation of aggregated field values.
Common use of a Single Metric Visualization
Single Metric visualizations are utilized as a Dashboard Report similar in behavior to a component in that it displays summarized data in a small graphic visualization.
Single Metric Tab
-
Search Name: The report's name and the visualization's title.
- Show or hide the Search Name on the visualization
- Data Label: (optional) A description of the single Metric value
- Subtext: (optional) Additional information or instructions
-
Date: The summary of the measurable data will be calculated based off of two dates.
- From: The starting date
- To: The end date
- Subtext Date: (optional) include a date with the Subtext such as assigned, created on, due date, last updated on, or today's date.
- Earliest and Latest: The term "earliest" is used for a date that may happen in the future or has happened in the past. The "latest" is used as a date which will limit the time frame for the possible incident to come into existence. For example, to count the number of actions due in the past month, the earliest date would be 30 days ago, and the latest date would be yesterday. To identify how many actions are due next month, the earliest date would be today, and the latest date would be in 30 days.
-
Numeric: The summary of the measurable data will be calculated based on selected data numeric data fields
- Numeric Fields: The field name of the numeric data
The Count
The field name "Count" is an exception to the other measurable Numeric Fields. The Numeric Field "Count" is a summation of the number of filtered objects as opposed to the aggregated value or aggregated count of reported values.
Changing the numeric aggregation method
To change the numeric aggregation method put the cursor over the field and click the three-dot menu to select a new aggregation.
Single Metric Options Tab
- Layout: Visualization layout and design options
- Choose Icon: Design graphic icon options
- Color Palette: Pick from a variety of system color palettes
- Color Conditions: change the color of the visualization when defined conditions are met to visually emphasize or differentiate expected results
Example of a Single Metric Visualization
The Single Metric Visualization shown below is an example of the General Action Module. The count depicts the number of days from the earliest “Date Due” and “Today”. The Search Name is “Overdue General Actions”, the Data Label is “Days Overdue”, and the Subtext is “Immediate attention required.”
