Getting started with Other legacy reports
Who is this article for?
Ideagen EHSQ Enterprise or Decani Users who want to learn about BI reporting
Reporting authorities, roles, and record access controls restrict data visibility. Basic JasperSoft knowledge is helpful.
The legacy reports and charts labeled Other accesses a third-party tool called JasperSoft. This tool presents an opportunity to create table, crosstab, and chart reports that contain called child-level often displayed in a record as a grid, tag, or cards.
To access this JasperSoft tool, begin by searching for records and applying filters using the standard dashboard filters on the top of each screen. When the correct set of records has been set, select Other from the Chart display option in the upper right-hand corner.
Continuous improvement of reporting tools
The JasperSoft reporting tool represents the "Report" option in the classic user interface (UI).This tool is being integrated into the platform to support child-level reporting. Ideagen has already released many of the JasperSoft features, such as charts and report grouping, into native search and filters. Additional support for child-level reporting will be introduced in future releases.
Child-Level Reporting
Reports found under the Other table view display reportable header-level fields and child-level values. To add child-level values to the reports, select the Expand by Child button to identify the header-level child field assigned to the child level values.
There are two ways to view child-level values.
- Concatenated: If configured in a module, the relevant details of the child row are combined into a single column with each field separated by a semicolon. In the example below, the Action column is a concatenated field showing the Status, Identifier, and Action Owner fields from the child level.
- Separate Columns: Each field of child-level values is displayed in separate columns. In the example below the Action Status, Action Title, and Action Owner fields are individual columns from the child level.
When a header-level field is added to the report, the value is repeated for every child-level row.
In the example below, the field “Title” is a header-level field and is repeated twice because this record has two child-level "Action" rows.
Grouping results by fields in the parent object is an effective way of seeing how child-level objects relate to their parent object. In the example below, the title has been used for grouping.
When using the Other chart type, data can be displayed in three different views:
Chart reports summarize data in a graphical presentation. Multiple chart types are available.
