Overview

Legacy BI reports are generated through a third-party tool called JasperSoft. This tool presents an opportunity to create a crosstab that contains child-level information often displayed in a record as a grid, tags, or cards.

To access this JasperSoft tool, begin by searching for records and applying filters using the Ideagen BI filters on the top of each screen. Once the correct set of records has been set, select Other from the Chart display option in the upper right-hand corner.

The legacy crosstab report Summarize data across multiple fields. Crosstab reports have the following advantages:

• More compact than table reports.
• Multiple fields can be added to both columns and rows, allowing for nested analysis as in the image below.
• Cells contain the summarized measures.
• The Count measure is commonly used for crosstab reports to populate the cells.

Date fields are not summarized by default. If desired, date fields can be summarized by right clicking the date field in the Columns or Rows box, then selecting 'Change Grouping' and the desired summarization level.

Carefully consider field order
Changing the left to right order of the fields in your rows provides a whole new way to view and analyze your data. In this example the first summarization level is Event Code, rather than Significance Level.

It is not necessary to always use date fields. The following example shows the number of records created for each Event Code, by Significance Level.

Tip
You can also filter to the Top N or Bottom N (number) values by right-clicking on the column header and choosing the appropriate option.

Continuous improvement of BI search and reporting tools
The JasperSoft reporting tool represents the "Report" option in the classic user interface. This tool is being integrated into the Ideagen Platform to support child-level reporting. Ideagen has already released many of the JasperSoft features, such as charts and report grouping, into native BI search and filters. 

With release 2.64.4, child data reporting will be made available to new customers as well as existing customers who have completed the search index conversion and are utilizing the redesigned user interface. 

As part of this change, child data can be added to both new and existing reports.
