Administrators who want to create a model template
An Administrator role with the Create andManage Model Objects property is required.
Overview
Model templates pre-populate field values when creating objects. Administrators can create model templates to support consistent data entry when users regularly create similar objects.
Access and configuration requirements
Access permissions
To create model templates, an administrator must have a role that includes the Create and Manage Model Objects role property.
This property is typically assigned to the Data Migration Administrator role.
Field calculation considerations
Model templates store predefined field values.
Administrators can create model templates. However, only users with the Module Developer role can create or modify field calculations that affect the behavior of other fields.
Select the module model. For example, to create a model template for the Supply Items module, select Supply Items Model.
Enter the required values that should be pre-populated when users create objects from the model template. For example:
Type
Description
Source
Assignee
Module vs Module Model template with pre-populated fields
Assign a unique name.
Click Save. This will create a new model template version of the module.
Some modules use multiple reportingauthoritiesto restrict and filter information. To connect predefined reporting authorities with a model template, an administrator must also have the Debug role.
Enable Debug mode.
Open the Troubleshooting tab.
Select the reporting authority.
Return to End User view mode.
Renaming a model template
Only the owner of a model template can rename it. Other administrators can edit the template but cannot change its name.
To rename a model template:
Select Options.
Select Template.
Enter a new name.
Select Save.
Sign out and then sign back in to see the updated template name.
Aboutmodelattributes
The ModelAttributes option remains visible in the Options menu for compatibility with older configurations.
Model attributes were previously used to restrict access to objects based on defined parameters. This functionality has been deprecated and replaced by reporting authorities and record access control.
For more information on Model Attributes, contact your Customer Success Manager.
Using model templates
Once a model template has been created, an administrator can create a ModelTemplate component and use it as a Create New button. Users can then create objects using the predefined values in the selected template.
For example, one supply item template might be named SupplyItem-DeliveryBoxes, while another might be named PackingSupplies. Selecting a template pre-populates fields and reduces repetitive data entry.
Administrators who are able to create model templates can search for models by type.
When using the SearchModels filter, searching for SupplyItems returns a list of Supply Item model templates, such as DeliveryBoxes and PackingSupplies.
